Carol Harris

When I was growing up I often went on outings with my family, camping and birdwatching, and developed a real love of being outdoors. My mother had a passion for photography and my father drew and painted. I tagged along looking for salamanders under rocks and scouting for tadpoles and frogs in the ponds and streams. I naturally gravitated to a job where I could spend time outdoors and became an archaeologist, working in Canada’s Arctic and in southern Ontario. Later I became a teacher and enjoyed sharing all my experiences with young people. I always did photography, whether to record information for the digs I was on, or to capture the beauty of the surrounding environment. But when I retired photography became my passion! I love spending time learning and developing my skills as a photographer. Being outdoors, camera in hand, exploring the wonders of the natural world, what could be better?
