The Owen Sound Camera Club is a group of diverse, like-minded photography enthusiasts who all share a passion for photography. Members from a variety of demographics join this club to learn what they don’t know, and to teach what they do.
Beginning in 1956, the club is the longest running photography club north of the Greater Toronto Area. It could be said that the reason for the club’s longevity is credited to the fact that Owen Sound is in the heart of such a diverse landscape, which provides opportunities for many types of photography. Within a few short hours of the city, you have the ability to capture urban life, country living, wildlife that is local to this region, big city life, rocky shorelines, serene meadows, many types of architecture, and the list goes on.
The club operates on a budget acquired by membership fees which are $35 per person, per season. Non-members are welcome to attend the meetings where we ask for a $5 donation. We meet the first Tuesday of the month (unless otherwise noted on the Calendar page) from September to June at the New Life Centre, 199 4th Avenue West, Owen Sound.
Since photography is in a constant a state of change, our members are using a variety of camera types, including mobile cameras floundering in phones, drones, and other devices.
