At our meeting last night a few members talked about nearby places they like to visit for photographic purposes. Here are a few of those suggestions, subject to my memory.
The Bognor Marsh-
Suggested by Bob F. There is a viewing platform, but he also recommended taking a step ladder to give you a different perspective from wherever you are (good advice at anytime). The mosquitoes can be brutal here earlier in the year, so going in the fall is attractive.
More about Bognor at the Grey Sauble Conservation website.
Cypress Lake-
Suggested by Lynn as a great winter snowshoeing destination but it’s nice year round (less insects and tourists in the winter). The ‘Grotto’ is especially great. It’s a bit of a hike in but the water looks tropical (it doesn’t feel tropical though!).
More information at Parks Canada including other nearby areas.
Moreland Place-
Brought up by Denise, but it’s come up at meetings before. There’s a great old house with character, and it’s owned by a great guy who is also a character. Significant gardens as well, with lots of shrubs to hide in.
Located just east of the Grey Roots Museum, Moreland Place is garden #11 on Rural Gardens (which has many other places to check out:)).
Indian Falls-
Not explicitly mentioned during the discussion, several of the slideshow photos were from these falls. It’s little north of Owen Sound, and the falls are a short hike from the parking lot. You can take the path to the top or the bottom of the falls. The bottom path is sometimes inaccessible due to high water but was reported to be open.
Also on the Grey Sauble Conservation website, and you can check out the Visit Grey Waterfall Tour
If you’ve got a place to share, let us know in the comments here or on our Facebook page. ~Brian
